The other morning I was left at a cafe

called Thierry,  I wasn’t going to buy anything there (as I’d been watching my wallet) but merely to enjoy my good friend Elliot and his mother for a breakfast meetup before heading to the next cafe to begin my work.   Janet was very kind and offered to buy me a morning cake.  Right after I made my order I was informed they had to leave in a hurry.  I started to reflect on the fact that I will be moving out soon and setting onto a new adventure.  Where will I end up?  How will it happen?  Whatever will it be?”  Just then I looked over and saw an architectural magazine called “ARTRAVEL” laying there on the shelf next to my table.   I leafed through some lovely pictures of Parisian design until I arrived on the following page:

It reads:  ”The love of risk:  there are those who look for the road of comfort and others who jump into the void and while in mid-air calculate the method of their landing.” 

I have to say, this is a perfect anecdote for my life.  It’s the way I best succeed.  One moment things look uncertain, up in the air, chaotic – even dangerous and the next moment it all flips around and lines up in the most cohesive and excellent way.  I realized that for a large part of my life I have tried to be “responsible” in the eyes of my friends, family and other people by justifying my completely random yet effective methods for allowing things happen in the way I do.  Also, that when I have attempted to make things work by planning and controlling, how it simply just fails.  I have had things happen in a way that would be unbelievable to most people, sometimes I barely believed them myself.   Often it’s all been about being at the right place at the right time – in the most uncanny fashion. My good buddy Tone says “Don’t take credit man, it’s not you.”  He’s right, I couldn’t possibly imagine how to orchestrate these unfoldings – I can only allow them to be.

 I remembered to recognize my strengths instead of trying to fix my weaknesses and indeed I am the second of the two aforementioned personality types.  For me, cohesion and wellness happen as a result of a single decision that I make at any given moment:

“Relax, do what feels good and watch it unfold.”

These are some of my favourite photos that I have taken.  There are many more inside my blog posts but this is a selection of  photos I found to be extra special.

This is my first post using my iphone,

it has a real nice camera so I plan to send you special snapshots I take here and there. 

 I looked back on my life so far and thought:

‘Yeah, I am really doing it – this living thing… I come from a history (a story of my own with all its ups and downs) and here I am now, ready to write more of it.’

Out of all the ideas I had for my first commercial…

I chose to use some classic footage.  In high school, some close friends, my sister and I were experimenting with various camera tricks. Then, my buddy Elliot suggested I pair these videos with a Bob & Jane add.  Then, I thought “Why not make it into the add itself?”.

There’s something magical about delving into the past to find treasures I had buried there and then resurrecting them for a new purpose in the present.  An epic sort of feeling  occurs for me, like I’ve had a bigger plan all along.   The worn, washed out colours and fuzzy image in this video are original from so many old VHS tape transfers…

I made the music using some free sample loops and free mixing software I found at acidplanet.com and the editing suite I finally settled on is the very reasonably priced Corel Video Studio X4.  I’ve done lots of video editing in my day and I highly recommend this one.

TRON CHAIR – Yellow

There’s now a second one in existence.

My good buddy Tone found a deal on the same chair I used to create my original blue TRON Chair.  As you can see below, the latest version of my personal chair features a built in mousepad which I fashion from some foam, a piece of cardboard, black duct tape and a thin store bought mousepad.

Tone didn’t need a mouse pad so I used the extra EL Wire to make him some ground FX.

The double underside wire makes a sweet glow effect on the floor.  What you’re looking at there is the box that contains the inverter which drives power to the wire.  I fashioned this box to house the inverter because it makes a very high pitched irritating sound.  The box is made from a cheese storage container, velcro, some insulation made from a shoe insole and a piece of cork which connects the power button the the outside shell of the box.  This way, you can squeeze the box to turn it on.  All purchased at the dollar store.

Tone is pretty happy with it, he’s the boss in this chair.

Next is a red one, then a green one and I already have the 2 chairs to do it.
